And makes a cat so stylin'! Molly used to catch too many birds. Since wearing her collar she has not brought home any. And everyone in the neighborhood loves seeing her!
We have tried multiple collars and added bells to collars and nothing kept our cat from catching birds. He was getting a couple a month. Since wearing this collar, no birds have been caught. And he doesn’t seem to mind, maybe because he is used to wearing a collar. The bell is better than ones we have used in the past and the brightness must alert the birds. He can still roll on the ground and hunt gophers. Now if I could find one that would prevent catching lizards, it would be great.
I live near (and have volunteered at) a wildlife rescue. One of my cats is a savvy hunter and I was sick with guilt whenever she caught a bird 🐦. January of last year the intake person suggested I try a BirdsBeSafe collar available on Amazon. The minute I got home from dropping off the injured bird I ordered up a couple BirdsBeSafe collars and elastic safety collars to use with them.
This was the best purchase ever! My cats haven’t caught any birds since I put those collars on! It was easy to set them up, the cats weren’t bothered either. It is good to wash the collars every so often to keep the collar colors bright. They work by making the cats more visible to the birds so they see the cat lurking! Their cat camouflage doesn’t work!
I feel less guilty when Weasley slips out of the house. I.try to make my yard bird-friendly with a commitment to native plants for them. I'd hate if I were just luring the birds to their death. The collar no longer seems to bother Weasley, yet it seems he is less inclined to slip out. (My daughter says he's embarrarsed to be seen lol).
She looks marvelous in this collar. It’s my third one. She is a hunter of birds, and hasn’t caught one since I discovered these collars.
I just got it and put it on the cat. It fits well. I thought it would wider but it seems ok. I like the reflective edging. I only got for one cat and the other cat started to attack the one with the collar. I’ll report back when I find out how effective it is for the bird situation.
